HIGHLY recommend Dr Josh! If you're in pain - perhaps due to a niggling injury that you've just 'put up with' over the years or even if you don't have... read more a specific issue but not feeling quite right in your body - book an appointment with Dr Josh. If you've had a baby and feel like your walking gait or body feels out of sorts postpartum - DEFINITELY see Dr Josh to put your body into alignment. In July last year- yes EIGHT months ago, I stepped into a bit of a depression on the sidewalk and I felt a little 'crack' in my left ankle joint. My ankle immediately began to swell so I put a pressure bandage on it, thinking it'd be fine with a bit of ice and rest. A week later, I left Australia for a quick stop in New Zealand and on to a month-long European vacation. My ankle did not get better. I couldn't walk for longer than 30 minutes at a time, my ankle would swell then throb and ache until I elevated my leg, upon which my ankle would eventually return to its normal size. It ruined my holiday having to rest and elevate my left leg regularly, like an invalid. Returning to Auckland, I've had 9 appointments in total with a chiropractor, local acupuncturist and sports therapist. I seriously considered whether this ankle was worth the bother and was amputation a viable option? I decided against it as I'm basically a card carrying wimp. So, it's now March and I'm attempting to get fit. I've started paddling at a Birkenhead Wakama club and doing regular daily exercises trying to lose the covid and post covid 'cuddly bits' on my belly, hips, and thighs. I'm now in a world of pain. My neck is stiff and the aching is killing me, my lower back feels compacted as a cricket pitch, my hip flexors are as tight as (insert something abnormally tight I can't think of a proper analogy and I'm an awfully lazy writer so feel free to use your imagination) Anyway, I have been googling for a chiropractor that practices applied kinesiology in Auckland since January. On Friday morning, to my complete amazement, my Google search resulted with this clinic and as I was training in the vicinity, I immediately booked an appointment for the next day. I found Dr Josh friendly and personable. He inquired how I had found his clinic and l let him know Google had led me there. I was puzzled how the clinic hadn't come up with my searches earlier, and he told me that he'd just updated their website so the algorithm had only just apparently kicked in. Yay for Google! The new patient information forms were comprehensive but once the adjustment was underway, he found weak points that were due to past injuries that I'd forgotten about. I was very impressed with that! I had other issues, apart from my ankle, that concerned me. I've been having digestion issues lately and taking probiotics but was still getting an upset tummy if I ate red meat or ate too late at night. Josh performed an adjustment to help my sensitive stomach drain toxins. My diaphragm was twisted, hips weren't aligned, my left arm was weak, my right knee was semi stuck in traction. Josh made corrections using applied kinesiology. Interestingly, my sympathetic nervous system was dominant- meaning I was operating primarily in fight or flight stress response. He performed a correction to address that issue and as an aside, immediately after the adjustment I fell in an extremely relaxed state. Bliss! And my ankle? Pain free for the first time since July last year. I'm so grateful beyond words...well not quite beyond words, as I've written this hella long review! So I'm going back on Saturday to do another check on my ankle and more. My initial consultation was $120 - a basic chiropractic visit is $65 - well worth every dollar for the benefits. More information about kinesiology on their site Definitely recommend you check this clinic out if you're in Auckland, there's plenty of free parking - rare as hens teeth in this city.
